I Am

I Am.

Those two words mean a lot. 'I think, therefore I am.' They mean that I exist. That I mean something to myself and possibly another. That I have thoughts. That I am here.

But in a week, I'll be there.

There, of course, is the wonderful country of Korea, South to be more specific. I will be living in Gwangju, South Korea and it is something that I have never wanted more in my life.

My E2 Visa number came this morning. I missed it, actually. I went to sleep early last night (11pm! Wow) and slept great until about 5am. I woke up briefly and then fell back asleep, but not without checking my email. I had a few ad emails as usual. And then sometime around about 10:05 I woke up again, completely rested, and checked my email. Nothing. Not since about 12-something last night. Disappointed, I turned over and went back to sleep.

I woke up again about 11:50 and lied in bed wondering if the school maybe had changed their mind and didn't want me after all. I played with the wording of an email I was thinking about sending. And then I checked my email to see what ads had come in during the past two hours.

Let me explain some recent phenomenon that has been happening lately with my phone before I continue. It's been messing up. I'm not sure if it's old or maybe needs an update, but sometimes it'll go several hours without anything, or someone will try to call me and I'll have service but it'll go straight to voice mail. This morning, it froze on receiving emails. When I checked it at 11:57am, I had about 7 emails from 1am forward. And one was from my recruiter saying that my visa number had come in.

I ran out of the room I have been staying in at my sister's place and into the living room where she and her husband were sitting, and yelled, "It came in!" and of course scared them both half to death.

So I overnight shipped my documents to Atlanta. I have booked a room for 2 nights. I have my consulate interview Tuesday. I will pick up my visa on Wednesday. I will come back to my sister's on Wednesday evening. And I am flying out sometime between Thursday and Sunday.

I am going to Korea.
