Australia, Day 7: Cairns, Queensland and Melbourne, Victoria

Day 7

I forgot to blog yesterday so I'm doing it a day late. Nothing really special to talk about. I got the early shuttle to the airport after 9:30a checkout and waited at a delish coffee shop for a few hours, aptly named 'The Coffee Shop'. Too cute. The 3 hour flight was good with Virgin Australia, and I arrived in Melbourne around 5pm. I got the shuttle bus from the airport to Southern Cross Station, then tram 96 into Fitzroy, the suburb my hostel, The Nunnery, is located in. I'd arranged for a 4-bed girls-only dorm-style room, but was iffy about it because its been a good 10 years since I did the shared dorm thing. The first night wasn't bad, and I was the youngest girl in the room! Kind of cool. I was expecting party minded college kids to keep me awake all night. But the hostel is a very nice old Victorian building and a bit late expensive, so I think it attracts a slightly older crowd. I had a somewhat early night, in bed by around 9:30p. Just an overall quiet day.
