Boseong Green Tea Plantation

Have you ever been to a tea plantation? If not, you should. Trust me. Just look at this:

Why wouldn't you want to visit one? Endless rolling rows of greenery, brisk mountain air...  Okay, so that's really all there is to it. But it's definitely an experience!

On December 1st, I boarded a bus with a good friend and we headed down to Boseong, an insanely tiny town about 90 minutes (non-direct, 60 minutes direct) from Gwangju. The only thing to see in Boseong is the Boseong Green Tea Plantation, so that's what we saw. (Quite literally, all we saw in Boseong.)

When you get to Boseong, the bus will drop you off at the Boseong bus terminal. You can purchase another bus ticket (about 1,500W each way) for a local bus to the tea plantation, or hire a taxi to take you there for about 10,000W each way. We got in about an hour and a half before sundown, so we decided on the taxi instead of waiting another 30 minutes for the local bus.

When we got to the plantation, we paid an entry fee of 3,500W each, and passed through the gates. There are a few souvenir shops upon entering the plantation, but we headed for the fields as sundown was fast approaching.

After passing the shops and climbing what seemed like an endless set of stairs, this is what we saw:

It was just beautiful.

You can probably spend the better part of a day walking around this plantation, checking things out, posing for photographs, and enjoying the calm atmosphere. It's certainly worth the trip from wherever you are in Korea. And when you're done, stop in the cute 2-story-house souvenir shop and cafe to buy your very own Green T. items!
