On Saturday, I went to GIC Day 2011 at the Kim Dae-jung Convention Center in Sang-mu, which is a newer area of Gwangju. They had many booths to get information from various groups in Gwangju, and the theater group that I'm a part of, the Gwangju Performance Project, had a booth that I sat at for a while and passed out information. There were also booths highlighting various foods from about 15 different countries. (Each country had a booth.) I sampled food from Sri Lanka (a type of fried fish cake), Canada (the chili was worth every cent of the 3,000W it cost), Mexico (various types of tacos), Indonesia (honestly can't remember what I ate from Indonesia - I had a bite of a friend's food), and a few other countries of which I can't remember the country or the food. The most notable was the chili from Canada, and the fish cake from Sri Lanka. The Indonesian food was also quite good, but I can't remember what it was.
There was also a booth where one could try on a hanbok, which is the traditional dress for Koreans at special occasions such as weddings, the Lunar New Year, very traditional family gatherings, etc.
Guess who tried one on.
