First Care Package

I received my very first care package in the mail last Friday. Well, it wasn't technically a care package as it was my own stuff that I couldn't fit in my suitcase, along with some clothes I ordered because I've lost so much weight since arriving. (Nineteen pounds as of 3 weeks ago! YAY! I am now much closer to my ideal weight comments of "Wow! You look great!" (about as close as I'll be to 21 on my birthday this year - haha), but I think I look great and I feel happy, and that's all that matters.)

My sister sent me two boxes that I'd been waiting on for over a month because the first time she sent them they were returned. (She had the address wrong.) As she resent them on May 20th, I was very surprised to come out of one of my classes and see two large boxes sitting next to my desk at work because it takes up to two weeks for shipments to get here. (Once they get here by air or ship, they have to wait to be cleared by customs first, before being delivered to the local address.) But there they sat.

I have been unsuccessful in coming up with the perfect words to describe how I felt when I got home and opened the boxes and took out each item. I had never really gotten a care package before, so this was the first time that all those feelings rushed over me. It was quite amazing. Everything in the two boxes was mine already, nothing was new to me (except the clothes I ordered, but I already knew what they were and had paid for them) or a gift, but as I took each individual item from the box, I felt as though I was transported home.  There was my 'Korea bag', which is a pretty pale pink purse I bought when I finally decided to come to Korea, some of my jewelry, some Advil, a cat calendar, and, among other things, my Bose radio for my ipod. I think of everything that was stuffed in those two boxes (save the close I desperately needed), that radio is my most favorite thing in my apartment right now. I love my music, and hearing it through speakers meant to play music is just one of the greatest feelings in the world.

I found this picture online and think it speaks volumes for how I felt when I plugged in my Bose, attached my ipod, and started playing my music. Rock on.
