Yellow Dust

Hi! Sorry I haven't posted in a while. The yellow dust has been getting to me, and apparently this is predicted to be the worst year in a long time.

Yellow Dust (aka Asian Dust) is dust from dry crops and polluted air that gets picked up in China by the trade winds and carried East to Korea, Japan, and sometimes in really bad seasons, even the western USA. It's like pollen, but worse. And it leaves a yellow dust (hence the name) on everything - cars, streets, buildings, windows - and if you leave your windows open, it comes in through the window and gets inside. It can cause severe allergic respiratory reactions, like asthma in people who don't usually have asthma, pinkeye, itchy watery eyes, coughing and sneezing. Monday night I left my window partially open to dry my clothes, but closed the door to the kitchen, and I woke up Tuesday morning having what I later found out to be an asthma attack. And I don't have asthma! I've also found that it makes my skin very oily.

This is a photo of a man in China, but it can get this bad in South Korea, as well.

  1. I have been so sick for the last three weeks and I attribute it solely to the yellow dust. It's awful.
